Family Day
Feb 8th 11:00 am to 1:00 pm EST
CureARS is excited to announce our plans to host a Family Day, designed to bring together families and doctors in the mitochondrial disease community. This special event will provide foundational “Mitochondrial 101” education to help families better understand the role of mitochondria in health and disease. Additionally, the day will feature a scientific deep dive into each of the mtARS genes, offering valuable insights into current research and advancements. By fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing, we aim to empower families and strengthen connections between the patient and research communities.

Dr. Amy Goldstein from CHOP will present on “Understanding Mitochondrial Disease and mtARS Genes: Basics for All” Join us for an engaging session exploring the fundamentals of mitochondrial disease and the biology of mtARS genes. Learn how these genes are crucial to mitochondrial function, how they affect health, and the latest insights into this rare condition. This session is designed to provide a clear and accessible foundation for patients, families, and advocates. Let me know if you’d like to tweak it further!

Ellen Macnamara, ScM, CGC | Genetic Counselor National Human Genome Research Institute, NIH and Colleen Clarke Muraresku MS, LCGC from CHOP will present on each mtARS gene, discussing gene-specific details, associated symptoms, and other pertinent information to help families better understand these conditions.
